How to Care for a Printed Hoodie: Washing, Drying and Storage

Folded black WEARILO hoodie showing the Wear Your Mood chest graphic

A printed hoodie needs care for both the fabric and the graphic. The most important instructions are on the garment’s care label and the product listing. Use those to choose wash and drying settings; general advice should not override a label.

The current WEARILO Wear Your Mood hoodie uses a cotton-polyester blend with a direct-to-garment front print. Our basic guidance is to wash it inside out with similar colours and avoid ironing directly over the print.

Before washing

  1. Read the care label. Check the permitted washing, drying and ironing instructions. Do this before choosing a familiar setting on your machine.
  2. Check the garment. Empty the pocket and look for anything that could catch or rub against the fabric in the wash.
  3. Turn it inside out. Keep the printed face on the inside rather than exposed against other garments.
  4. Group similar colours. Follow the label and detergent instructions, including any guidance about washing dark items.

A black hoodie and a pale garment do not automatically belong in the same load simply because both have been washed before. Sort the load with the whole garment and its label in mind.

Choose settings from the label

There is no single temperature or spin setting that is right for every printed hoodie. Fabric, print method and finishing can differ. Select settings that meet the care label, and use the detergent as directed rather than assuming that more detergent gives better results.

If you are unsure what a symbol means, check before washing. You can also contact WEARILO with a clear photograph of the garment label. We cannot promise that a particular care routine will prevent all fading, shrinkage or wear.

Dry according to the garment instructions

Check whether the label permits tumble drying and which setting it specifies. If the instructions allow air drying, give the garment space and let it dry fully before putting it away. Avoid treating a general online drying tip as permission to use a setting the label rules out.

How you handle the garment matters too. Keep the fabric supported when moving it and avoid pulling hard on the cuffs, hood or hem to change its shape.

Keep the iron off the graphic

Do not iron directly over the printed design. If the garment permits ironing, follow the label and keep the soleplate away from the graphic. Check care instructions before using a steamer or another heat treatment as well.

Store it clean and dry

Let the hoodie dry completely before folding it into a drawer. Fold without sharply pressing across the graphic where practical. Store it somewhere dry and give it enough room that it is easy to take out without tugging on the fabric.

Your quick care checklist

  • Follow the specific garment label.
  • Wash inside out with similar colours.
  • Use only permitted wash and drying settings.
  • Do not iron directly on the print.
  • Put it away only when fully dry.
